Led by Political Leader Hon. Kamla Persad Bissessar SC, a delegation of UNC party officials met with the Communist Party of China Delegation headed by Her Excellency Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the Leading Party Member’s Group (Ministerial level), Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women’s Federation (ACWF).
Discussions focused on areas of mutual interest to enrich the development of both Trinidad and Tobago as well as strengthening the relationship between the United National Congress (UNC) and the Communist Party of China and the people of the People’s Republic of China.
Political Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar commended the global vision of His Excellency President Xi Jinping, reflected by a series of important ideas and initiatives, including the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind, while also congratulating Her Excellency Huang Xiaowei on her work on the global stage to bridge the gender gap and enrich women’s development.
The UNC Leader said that the UNC will always be a strong ally and friend of the People’s Republic of China as it was her People’s Partnership Government that opened the first Trinidad and Tobago Embassy in China after 40 years of diplomatic relations. Hon. Kamla Persad Bissessar reflected on the many achievements secured for both countries during the state visit to Trinidad and Tobago by President Xi in 2013 and the Hon. Kamla Persad Bissessar’s state visit to China in 2014.
The United National Congress delegation congratulated Her Excellency Huang Xiaowei on her dynamic work as party secretary of the All-China Women’s Federation saying that the UNC found great inspiration in her statements and calls on the global stage that “countries need to take concrete and effective actions to support women’s entrepreneurship, innovation and participation in high-quality development, deepen international exchanges and cooperation, and build together a better world of gender equality and inclusive development.”
The UNC Political Leader thanked China for its support during the Pandemic, and reaffirmed the UNC’s support for the One China Policy and China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Global Development Initiative (GDI), Global Security Initiative (GSI) and Global Civilization Initiative (GCI).
